    15 year break!

    Postby enjoynz » Sun Jul 08, 2007 9:27 am

    Hi all.

    I just wanted to share.

I haven't been on an ambulance call out for 15 years.
I'm still working through the process of getting back on, as a Volunteer.
I did a night shift as an observer, Saturday night just past.
I hopped between two ambulances going out over the night, so did about 10 call outs.
I had a ball. I wasn't sure how I would feel, having not been on an Ambulance in such a long time,
but the staff I was on with made me feel at home. Even a couple of the pt's were thanking me, not that I did much.
I highly recommend if you are looking at rejoining ambulance or looking at joining for the first time,
if you can go out and do some observer shifts first, do it!
It is the best way of knowing if the Ambulance Service is for you.
I am now waiting with baited breath for my letter, excepting me to rejoin. Fingers crossed!

    Cheers Enjoynz

How to decorate an Ambulance for a Christmas parade? I have the lovely task of decorating our ambulance for the local christmas parade. I need ideas. Nothing morbid please.

I still call in from time to time.
Circumstances lead me to leave the service, hence my lack of posts. My husband is still a volunteer Ambulance Officer though, so I still have an interest in EMS.
I've just finished writing a novel (not on EMS, lol), which has been taking up my time.
Thanks for the nice welcome back Dave, hope all is well with you?
