not sure what kind of fluid measurements could be ask other than blood volume, or shock....(your not starting or maintaining IV's?, if so yes there is alot of fluid measurements )
ambulance procedures vary abit from company to company, usually following the SOP for your employer is a safe answer...also if you can take a "Emergency Vehicle Operations" or whatever your area offers relating to safe operations of an ambulance.

GREAT news, however by the skin of your teeth is something you should keep to yourself when driving a patient to the hospital, may cause him/her more stress...

still no word on my certification, but thats ok, may have something that pays better, and in healthcare

    I know

what do you mean no word on your cert? you don't know if you passed or not yet. I would be freaking out! So what else do you have lined up? something that pays more???

I had my first interview today, I killed it! I had the right answer for everything, passed the test. then I forgot my H-6 at home. I faxed it to them this afternoon but how emembarassing The problem is I don't know if I want it, They don't have the same things going as another company that I have an interview with on the 11th. So there is the whole what if they call and offer a job before I get to try with the other company thing.

oh, I passed all my exams and met all practical requirements, its the school, everything seems to be in a "bottle-neck".
this other job is in the OR, and I have an interview in a week. yes it would pay more :D
i could still b a paramedic on-call. (which is the way all new medics work), always have a back-up.....
good for your interview. You have an interview on the 11th of Nov?? NOT here, its Rememberence Day. its called Veterans Day in the USA.

Good luck, your jobs prospects are looking good 8)

you have got to check out this book Knock'em Dead 2010 by Martin Yate $15.00 at Barnes and Knoble. I thought I was a good people person and could handle interviews well, but this book is awesome. It covers everything from resumes to deferent types of interviews to multiple interviews and multiple job offers. It also gave me a confidence boost with my interview on monday.

Thanks for the support Jim! I go to do the sign up papers tomorrow. It was funny tho, I did the physical agility test yesterday. They had a paramedic trainee help with a gurney lift up and down the stairs. All four testers did fine, but the paramedic trainee actually tripped and fell (not bad, he didn't get hurt) he just sat on his butt going up the stairs first. his trainer was giving him a bad time saying he had to go to the gym. I felt bad tho for going to fast but he was calling out the steps.

I AM SO TIRED!! it is strang tho, have not been up all night. slept from 11:00 to 6:00 but after my shifts I am tired :?

It was exactly what I should have expected  My fto was a EMT instructor and is GOOD, He has me checking out the unit in the beginning of each shift, cleaning the station, memorizing 10 hospitals in the areas (locations and two cross streets) the company codes and manuel, doing skills drills with the ked, full body, sagr. I do all the paper work for the shift, I also try to map us in from the back of the box in rout. starting to get to load and unload. I do the vitals in rout and the paperwork at the hospital, then clear the call with dispatch then its back to studying until 7:00. It has been quiet tho, i have had two shifts and only 4 geriatric medical runs and 1 ETOH. I understand that this is a good thing but I would like to have more exposure before getting out of training. Our unit gets the fire calls for our station so I am sure I should get some within a couple weeks. I have another one tomorrow, looking forward to it. It seems like I am getting paid to study! which I could definitely do!!!!

what about you jimmy, how R things

I know, apparently I am in a nice part of LA because not to much is going on. I know this is a good thing but I am new to this and want to get more experience. It is so quiet for these guys when there is a call they take over and do everything unless its a simple transport (that and I am a trainee). Not only that, I was hired for the Orange county devission and they don't have a fire contract there. this means I am going to be doing IFT's and if I'm lucky runover fire calls. I plan on giving it a year or so then transferring or relocating to emergency somewhere else. I say that now but who knows. thing is I want to continue studies and get PM cert. Right now, I'm just glad to have a job!

:) still with the same company! My FTO has the most amazing attention to detail that I have ever seen in my life! it is amazing that I still have a job. I am glad I am on a ALS rig, these guys are good and exactly what I wanted for a first time experience.

of course my FTO gets hired with CAL FIRE before I finish my field training! now I get to start with a new field trainer just when I am to start code three. I think I am going to be put with the busiest unit in the station because they just finished with their trainee. so long to the days of three or four runs a day, and working tues, thurs, every third sat. should be a good experience having two FTO's two different aspects from two highly qualified people.
